ABOUT US

Lin and I first met in the early seventies when she turned up at a Hot Rod meeting with a fellow Hot Rod driver. I saw her several times after that, but as I thought she was dating my friend, I didn't like to ask her out. I then found out that they were just friends, with a common interest, so I decided to ask her out, and she accepted. I found that besides Hot Rod racing, we shared other interests such as motor bikes and cats, although out tastes in music differed, they still do but she has come round to enjoying some of the music I like. I proposed to her whilst lying in a hospital bed, following a serious road accident that we were both involved in, she accepted and we were married in May 1976.

We started married life living with my parents in Barking, whilst waiting for news of a council flat we had put our names down for. After a short while we were allocated a flat on the 11th floor of a tower block, and it was on the evening of the day we moved in, when we were relaxing over a cup of tea, that we noticed something was missing "a cat". Both of us had cats at home, and the flat seemed empty without one, and that was the start of our love of Siamese.

After a few years in the flat we were able to buy our own home, a large Victorian terraced house in East London, although the house was large, the garden wasn't, but we managed to erect a small cat run, as by now we had started breeding our Siamese, and our feline family had grown. After several years and an increased cat family, we decided to move again, and finally settled on our current house in Wickford, which although a smaller house, had a large garden, which allowed us to erect a large cat run, part of which we were able to use to fulfil our desire to own a stud boy, it also enabled us after a few years, to install a large Koi pond. During our time together we have persued various interests, this included Lin trying her hand at Hot Rod racing, which unfortunately only lasted a couple of meetings, due to the fact that she managed to crash into a light post, which led her to the conclusion that she would spectate, rather than participate. I introduced her to the joys of fishing, which she found enjoyable, and as members of a local angling club, we spent many Sundays on club outings, at one match she even managed to beat me. We also persued our other love, of motor bikes, and had some lovely holidays touring the South of France, where we travelled where we fancied, taking in many lovely towns and villages. We spent several years going to the Isle of Man to watch the TT racing, and the Manx Grand Prix, and we find the Isle of Man a lovely place for a holiday, with lots of places to visit inbetween watching the racing.

Going to various cat shows also gives us the opportunity of weekend breaks, as if it is a long journey, we usually stay overnight. We have also been to the cat shows in Jersey a few times, this gives us the chance of a long weekend break. Add to this, regular day trips to France on "cat food runs", means that we clock up quite a few miles in the car. I say "cat food runs", because that is what they essentially are, although we do stock up on wine and spirits, we usually fill a trolley with cases of cat food, the cashiers look at us as if we are mad, but we have found certain cat foods that are only available there, which our cats love, and it works out cheaper than the food over here, also we often pick up cases of food for a friend of ours, so the trolley is usually full.

We lead quite a busy life, with committments to various cat clubs, added to that cat showing, breeding and trying to keep on top of our garden, we very rarely have a free weekend.

Over the last few years I have become intrested in computers, and as you can see the last course I have done at Night School is on how to write a web site, the result of which you are reading now. I am also building a data base of cat's pedigree's and will always be intrested in any information about Siamese, Oriental or Abyssinian Pedigree's, or old G.C.C.F. Stud books.
